The expansion enriches the gameplay with fresh strategic opportunities and introduces historical battles rooted in African history.

Ethiopian and Hausa Civilizations

The Ethiopian civilization, known as the "Roof of Africa," features unique units like Shotel Warriors for breaking enemy lines and Oromo Horsemen for countering cavalry. Players can construct Palaces and Mountain Monasteries to bolster their forces while leveraging explosive mortars. The Hausa Kingdom introduces influential Universities and lucrative Livestock Markets, supported by units such as Fulani Archers and Lifidi Knights. Both civilizations offer distinctive strategies, from resourceful alliances to devastating offensive capabilities.

Unique Buildings and Mechanics

African civilizations introduce exclusive structures like the Palace, which recruits Mercenaries, Imported Artillery, and the Gatling Camel. The Granary enhances food acquisition by luring hunted animals, and the Livestock Market facilitates cattle trade. Players can also deploy the Royal Banquet mechanic, earning Influence to strengthen allied forces and diversify strategic options.

Historical Battles in African Settings

The expansion includes three new historical battles: "The Battle of the Three Kings," featuring a Moroccan defense against a Portuguese invasion; "Fall of the Hausa," chronicling Usman dan Fodio’s revolutionary uprising; and "The Era of the Princes," highlighting Kassa Hailu’s struggle to unify Ethiopia. Each scenario provides a rich narrative backdrop, immersing players in pivotal moments of African history.
