Age of Empires IV: Dynasties of the East, developed by Relic Entertainment, is an expansion to the acclaimed real-time strategy game. This content-rich DLC introduces four variant civilizations, each inspired by historic Eastern dynasties, alongside eight new maps, six unique biomes, and a groundbreaking single-player mode called The Crucible. With its mix of fresh gameplay mechanics, historical depth, and strategic challenges, Dynasties of the East reinvents the Age of Empires IV experience.

Four Variant Civilizations with Unique Mechanics

Dynasties of the East introduces four new civilizations: The Golden Horde, Macedonian Dynasty, Sengoku Daimyo, and Tughlaq Dynasty. Each offers distinct units, technologies, and strategies. For example, the Golden Horde focuses on centralized power under the Khan, while the Sengoku Daimyo allows players to align with factions like Takeda or Oda, offering faction-specific bonuses. Meanwhile, the Tughlaq Dynasty introduces the innovative Governorship system and deploys unique elephant units, including the Worker Elephant for economic growth and the Ballista Elephant for siege warfare.

The Crucible – A Roguelite RTS Mode

The Crucible redefines single-player RTS gameplay by combining classic mechanics with dynamic challenges. Players defend their Wonder against escalating waves of enemies, tackle procedurally generated missions, and earn Boons and Perk Points for permanent progression. With unpredictable objectives, hidden Points of Interest, and evolving strategies, The Crucible offers a fresh and replayable challenge that tests endurance, adaptability, and tactical mastery.

New Maps and Biomes

This expansion adds six visually diverse biomes and eight maps, such as the volcanic Black Sand Beach and the strategically intricate Cliffsanity. These new environments introduce subtle tactical elements and unique layouts, catering to various playstyles and offering both competitive and casual experiences. Whether navigating dense rainforests or battling across Greek Islands, these additions expand the strategic possibilities for single-player and multiplayer matches.
