Assassin’s Creed Shadows, developed by Ubisoft Quebec, is a stealth-action game set in feudal Japan. Players alternate between Naoe, a nimble shinobi, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai, to explore two distinct playstyles: stealth and strength. Featuring dynamic weather, environmental destruction, and Japanese voiceover, the game leverages its setting to offer a deeply tactical experience.

Dual Heroes and Playstyles

Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces Naoe and Yasuke, each offering unique gameplay. Naoe specializes in stealth, using shadows, a grappling hook, and tools like shurikens to infiltrate and eliminate. Yasuke focuses on combat, combining silent bow kills with katana and naginata melee combos. Players can switch between these characters to adapt their strategy, balancing precision and power.

Feudal Japan and Dynamic Environments

The open world spans castle towns, shrines, and countryside, all affected by dynamic seasons and weather. Environmental destruction adds tactical depth, enabling creative approaches to infiltration and combat. Whether navigating rooftops in the rain or ambushing from cherry blossom groves, the setting plays a crucial role in gameplay.

Cutting-Edge Visuals and Engine

Powered by the updated Anvil engine, Shadows showcases ray-traced Global Illumination, real-time reflections, and fully virtualized geometry. From lantern-lit rooftops to wind-swept landscapes, every detail enhances the immersion. These technical advancements make it one of the most visually detailed Assassin’s Creed games to date.
