Gears of War: E-Day, developed by The Coalition, is a prequel to the iconic Gears of War series, set during the catastrophic events of Emergence Day. Built in Unreal Engine 5, it delivers a modernized experience while staying true to the franchise’s cover-based combat roots. Players join Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in a campaign that recounts the Locust Horde's uprising and humanity's desperate fight for survival. Alongside the narrative, the game features revamped multiplayer modes, including a new take on the classic Horde mode, Horde Siege.

Horde Siege PvE Mode

Horde Siege reimagines Gears’ beloved wave-based survival mode with larger maps, more players, and intense battles. Assemble a four-player squad and choose from classes like Assault, Marksman, Medic, or Breacher. Work together to repel waves of Locust enemies, tackle shared objectives, and face off against massive world bosses. Successful runs earn rewards and unlock new customizations, enhancing your loadout for future battles.

Refined Versus PvP Combat

Versus mode offers both competitive and casual options with 4v4 battles on all-new maps and updated classic modes. Improved controls and traversal mechanics ensure fluid, dynamic gameplay while retaining Gears’ signature cover-based combat. Players can climb ranks in competitive play or enjoy more relaxed matches in social playlists, with cross-platform support for up to eight players.

Advanced Visuals and Performance

Optimized for 4K resolution, HDR10, and up to 60 FPS, Gears of War: E-Day takes full advantage of modern hardware. Features like ray-traced lighting, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, and AMD FSR enhance visuals, while ultrawide support and customizable controls cater to a variety of setups. The game also supports handheld devices like Steam Deck, offering seamless cross-platform play with cloud saves.
