Half Sword, developed by Half Sword Games, is a physics-based medieval combat simulator that thrusts players into the brutal world of 15th-century European tournaments. The game’s most distinctive feature is its realism, achieved through a combat system informed by Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) practitioners. Players start as commoners and fight their way to knighthood, engaging in meticulously designed battles where every move and strike is grounded in historical accuracy. The game offers a visceral experience with its focus on lifelike combat dynamics and the brutal finality of death.

Physics-Based Combat Mechanics

Half Sword sets itself apart with its physics-based combat mechanics, allowing for precise weapon control using the mouse. This system, built on feedback from HEMA practitioners, affords players genuine control over their armaments. Combat is a tactile experience, with each clash of steel demanding strategic positioning and timing. The realism extends to the animations and maneuvers, immersing players in the art of swordplay where every move could be your last.

Historically Accurate Arms and Armor

Players can explore and utilize a diverse selection of historically accurate arms and armor. This collection not only enhances gameplay by offering various tactical options but also provides an authentic glimpse into the period's martial culture. Whether you’re wielding a longsword or donning a suit of plate armor, the attention to detail in each piece is evident, allowing for a deeply engaging simulation of medieval warfare.

Arena Tournaments and Betting System

In the Arena, players compete in bloody tournaments, striving to become the champion. Success in these events earns renown and wealth, which can be used to purchase or forge new equipment tailored to your style. A unique betting system adds a layer of risk and reward, letting confident players wager on their performance to potentially accelerate their progress. However, the stakes are high, as losing often results in gruesome in-game fatalities.
