The Last Caretaker, developed by Channel37 Ltd, is a first-person survival-crafting game set in a post-apocalyptic Earth submerged under a vast ocean. You play as the final operational Caretaker, a machine tasked with humanity's survival. Your mission revolves around the Lazarus Complex, a facility critical to recovering human seeds and preparing the next generation for life beyond Earth. The game emphasizes strategic resource management and purposeful construction, where every decision directly impacts the success of your mission.

The Lazarus Complex and Human Seeds

At the heart of the gameplay is the recovery and restoration of human seeds. You’ll locate and return these remnants of humanity to the Lazarus Complex, where you’ll manage their growth, recover their memory data, and prepare them for orbital launch. This core objective drives the narrative and ties every system together, from exploration to resource allocation.

Scavenging, Crafting, and Infrastructure

Survival hinges on your ability to scavenge the ruins of Earth, dismantle wreckage, and convert materials into functional tools, weapons, and essential systems. You’ll rebuild vital infrastructure, from power grids to launch facilities, ensuring the machinery necessary for humanity’s survival remains operational.

Hostile Environments and Threats

The ocean-covered Earth is fraught with danger from rogue machines, crumbling facilities, and environmental hazards. Protecting the Lazarus Complex involves repairing, upgrading, and defending against these threats to ensure the mission’s success.

Explore diverse locations like the Sanctuary docks, Underwater Cities, and Seed Vaults, uncovering logs, memories, and artifacts that tell the story of a civilization that failed to outlast its own world. Each location adds depth to the narrative, revealing the stakes of your monumental task.
